Prevent the introduction of disease with greater efficiency
Our biosecurity service enables early detection of potential sickness, before animals enter the farm environment.
Efficient and accurate technology
Automatic screening at transportation
Every entry of new cows or pigs to a farm presents the risk of disease being introduced to the rest of the herd. A delivery from an infected farm, containing animals where signs of illness have not yet been detected, could have devastating results. The same is true for introducing piglets and calves who are carrying an illness to the main farm herd.
Quarantine areas are used by most farms to prevent such outbreaks, but it is possible to detect potential sickness much earlier. Our infrared scanners can pinpoint a cow or pig with a fever as it is being loaded onto a vehicle for transfer or on arrival at the farm. That cow or pig can then be removed from the process at the outset. The risk of infecting other new arrivals, or the existing herd is greatly reduced.
Cameras can also be set up within quarantine environments to monitor new arrivals for signs of ill health. The cost to farms of dealing with an outbreak of a major disease is far higher than the cost of prevention.
